Pilar Marroquín
Pili grew up in eight different countries and has visited over 70. She speaks five languages and holds a degree in Journalism from Sorbonne University, as well as a Master of Science in Social Entrepreneurship from USC Marshall, where she co-founded the MSSE Association.
She began her career in publishing, editing Travel + Leisure magazine in Mexico City, where she also wrote for titles like ELLE, CNNExpansion, and InStyle. As a freelance writer and editor, she collaborated with outlets such as Forbes México, TDR, and Time Out, and led editorial projects like The Big Drink Book and a student guide for the French Embassy in Mexico, overseeing both content and translations.
She later became Project Director at Bedu, an edtech startup, where she led hybrid education programs for women entrepreneurs across Latin America. In 2019, she launched her second social enterprise, Zamná—a design studio that creates artisanal yoga accessories in collaboration with Indigenous communities in Guatemala and Mexico, promoting slow fashion and dignified work.
Over the past seven years, she has worked as a consultant on women’s economic empowerment with organizations like the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Pro Mujer, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), designing training programs and content across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
She continues to work as a writer and translator, with a focus on editorial and impact-driven projects across Latin America and beyond.
